The Riverside and Desert chapters have teamed up with Carole Bell at the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve to study non-native forb control after prescribed fire. Following prescribed fire at the reserve, natives have been found to be hindered by competition with forbs such as Erodium that increase in cover once non-native grasses are controlled. Our experiment hopes to find an herbicide treatment that will reduce Erodium and increase native plant species richness and cover.
